Before your Social Security disability hearing, your Los Angeles disability lawyer will inform you about the process and what it entails. He or she may provide you with the following tips.
While you may ask your Los Angeles disability lawyer about whether or not you should dress up, keep in mind that a disability hearing is a lot different than other types of court proceedings. You should wear the same type of clothing as you wear on a regular basis.
Unless your Los Angeles disability attorney instructs you to arrive at a specific time, be there at least 30 minutes early. Even though your official notice will likely tell you to arrive early so that you can review your file, your Los Angeles disability lawyer has usually completed this step well in advance of the hearing date. Do not arrive late to the hearing.
While you wait for your hearing to begin, you may feel tempted to talk to other people in the waiting area or to call family members to give them an update. Do not provide any confidential information about your hearing to another individual in this setting as you wait for your hearing. An employee for the Social Security Administration may misinterpret something he or she overhears you say.
Turn off your cell phone before entering the room where your hearing will be conducted.
